About the EARN Employer Awards
The Employer Awards recognize local employers for their innovative workplace policies and practices around the recruitment and integration of people with disabilities into their organization. The awards program is intended to recognize local employers from public, private, and not-for-profit organizations in 2 key categories 1) small and medium sized employers and; 2) other employers.
On January 14, 2019 EARN launched the Employer Awards program, seeking nominations from local organizations. Up to four awards will be presented annually as determined by an independent selection committee made up of Human Resource professionals, employers and other stakeholders, as selected by EARN/United Way.
Awards are presented at the EARN Annual Conference, an event attended by senior executives, civic leaders, key stakeholders, media, and Human Resources professionals from leading businesses and organizations.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Employer Awards, organizations must be able to demonstrate that they are adhering EARN’s Guiding Principles. However, nominated employers do NOT have to be a member of the EARN network. Please note: Past award recipients are eligible to submit a nomination.
Selection Process
All nominations are reviewed by an independent selection committee made up of Human Resource professionals, employers and other stakeholders from the EARN Network. (EARN and United Way staff members oversee but are not involved in the selection process.)
Recipient organizations are not chosen for any one specific reason, but rather for their overall policies and practices that create a strong and ongoing commitment to promote the integration of employees with disabilities into their organization.
NOTE: All finalists will receive 2 tickets to attend the EARN Annual Conference
Award Recipient Benefits
Employer Award recipients for 2019 will be publicly recognized at the EARN 7th Annual Conference on June 7th, 2019.
Recipients will:
- Receive an Employer Award certificate
- Be profiled on the EARN website and marketing materials
- Have exclusive use of the Employer Award logo
- Be recognized publicly and receive an invitation to represent your organization at various events
- Be afforded opportunities for media coverage
Submitting a nomination: Deadline April 1, 2019

Nominations can be submitted in word or pdf formatting and must be received by April 1, 2019. Awards will be presented at the EARN Annual Conference on June 7th, 2019.
